Journey to Self-Love & Self-Discovery

The journey to Self-Love and Self-Discovery is a personal one. Every year that goes by I learn to love myself a little more. And I learn to forgive and accept my “imperfections” a little more with each passing day.

I recently did another trip around the sun and I created this video in honor and in celebration of my journey.

If you prefer to read the words that I speak in the video please continue reading below. And don’t forget to share your thoughts or journey with me in the comments below. xoxo

Everyone has their own journey of self-love and self-discovery. My journey started on September 30th, 1985. I quote the day that I was born because self-love is a life long journey, every day when I wake up I see the things that I’m striving for on my vision board.  And in the middle of it all, I see the words Forge Your Own Path. That is at the center of it all because

we are all unique individuals seeking our own definition of success.

Brene Brown said in The Gifts of Imperfection “Let go of Who you think You’re supposed to be and embrace who you are. “  That is obviously easier said than done, from the moment we are born parents and society inflict on us all these different expectations and since we are still discovering ourselves we feed into all of these assumptions of who we think we should be. But there is no timeline, there are billions of people in this world and no two individuals are the same.

 Brene Brown also says that,

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we will ever do. “ So I’m choosing to be brave. I’m choosing to own my story and I’m choosing to love myself. Every single trial and tribulation that I have overcome has brought me to this very moment in time. 34 years old living in Los Angeles & married to the love of my life.

I’m reminded of a quote by Najwa Zebian, “These mountains that you are carrying, you were only supposed to climb.”  We all need to let go of these mountains that are weighing us down and preventing us from experiencing true freedom, happiness, and self-love.

We can all fly but the first step is believing that we can.

Because we are all worthy of love and happiness, we are all worthy of living out our dreams.   We are all worthy of becoming the fearless warrior we always knew we could be.

I am now just tapping into my power, as a woman, as a wife, as a sister, a friend,  and as a Latina.

But I am also so much more. I’m a survivor,  a creative, I’m courageous and resilient. But most importantly I’m Yaritza and I love the person I’ve become on this journey of self-love and self-discovery.
