30 yrs old & I haven’t Taken Enough Risk to Feel Alive.

It’s been a while since my last guest post, but it is I, Yaritza’s “Instagram fiance”…Drew. I was asked to do this guest post because I recently reached a new milestone in my life. One that many take for granted and others don’t get the gift to see. On Sunday, January 14th, I turned 30 years old. That morning I took a deep breath and smelled Capricorn season in the air, lol. But in all seriousness, I woke up and took a moment to be present and reflect on my life.

Realizing I haven’t Taken Enough Risk to Feel Alive.

I can be honest and say there was a shift in me when I turned 30. I realized I’ve experienced 30 years of life in this world and yet…I haven’t been living. I haven’t taken enough risks to feel alive. I’ve played it safe. And though I’m very grateful for where I am now in life, there is a small voice in the back of my mind that says I can do more and achieve more. And I want to honor that voice.

Also since turning 30 I’ve realized that:

  1. I’m really into wine. lol
  2. I’m evolving and turning within and defining what it is to be a man.
  3. I’m excited to learn something new.
  4. It’s time to travel more.
  5. I have not been honoring myself by living truly as my authentic self and…
  6. I’m soon to be a husband and marry the woman of my dreams.

All that is a lot to take in. Especially the wine, lol. Growing up I never wondered what being married and being an adult would feel like. Now at the age of 30, I have a sense of what my parents went through, lol. I’m getting older and focusing my attention more on building my life with my AMAZING fianceé Yaritza.

I will end this post with this…

On my birthday I felt this huge emotion of gratitude for life. I received news from my dad that a cousin of mine had passed away that morning from the flu. It was a moment where heaven couldn’t wait for my cousin and I was given another day to live.

This life really is a gift. We don’t know how long we have it for…SO YOU BETTER START LIVING.

What is it about birthdays that bring about the need for self reflection? I’m a Capricorn too, so I’m prone to deep thinking all the time. Life should be an adventure, so good luck in taking more risks. Sorry for the loss of your cousin.
