Self-Care Journal Ideas + Prompts
When I was a kid I used to write in my diary. Today I write in my journal as a form of self-care. I know for a lot of you, journaling can be a little difficult. You might struggle with not knowing what to write, how much to write, or even when to write.
The good news is that there are no rules when it comes to you and your journal. But if you need a little guidance I’m sharing a few self-care journal ideas + prompts to help you get started.
Why Self-Care Journaling is Important
We all have those days when we feel overwhelmed. It might be because of an argument you had with your spouse, BFF, or parent. Maybe you have a deadline coming up at work and health issues or financial problems. And seriously the list can go on, right?
Maybe it was something that you heard in the radio on your way to work that entered your body and now is lingering in your thoughts.
I have a lot of those days. And what’s important here is having a way of releasing those thoughts. A self-care journal is a perfect place to unleash all of your thoughts. The bad, the good, and the ugly thoughts of the day.

So when should you journal?
Truthfully whenever is convenient for you. But if you can’t decide here is an idea.
In the mornings you can have a gratitude journal. Write all the things that you are grateful for that day. Because it can help set the tone for the rest of the day.
At nights you can brain dump all your thoughts before going to bed. That way you might achieve better sleep.
I personally like to do it in the mornings as I sip on my tea. But there are no rules sometimes I do it in the middle of the day because that’s what I need to do to take care of me in the moment.
Honestly once a day is all you need to start a self-care journal routine.
