Flea Market Galore
Growing up Sundays meant Church, family and Flea Markets! My favorite part of Sundays was always the Flea Market. Ever since I moved to Los Angeles I don’t go as much I would like to. But it’s still one of my favorite things to do on a Sunday afternoon.
Recently Drew and I went to the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena and I loved it. I believe it’s the biggest flea market in southern California. It’s open on the 2nd Sunday of every month. General admission starts at 9am and tickets are $9. Kids under 12 years old enter free. And if you want to shop early before everyone else you can start as early as 5am with an entrance fee of $20.
Now, I grew up on the east coast so paying $9 to get into a Flea Market is kind of pricey. But let’s face it this is LA and everything here is overpriced. I guess that’s the price you pay when living next to the “stars.”
For those of you who don’t know the Rose Bowl is a Football Stadium so, all the vendors are set up around the outskirt of the stadium. And they’re divided into sections, so all the vintage is in one area, and all the arts and crafts in another, and so forth and so on. So if you don’t want to do a lot of walking you can just grab a map at the entrance and head directly to the section you want to shop at.
We weren’t shopping for anything in particular so we walked around the whole thing. My favorite section is always the antique & collectibles and of course the vintage clothing. I just love how old items carry a story with them. I can only imagine what life was like in the 20’s, 30’s or even the 50’s so seeing the things that people used to use sparks my imagination.
We did a lot of walking under the sun so it was only fair to hydrate with some delicious fresh pineapple juice.
If you live in southern California and you are looking for something to do on a Sunday. I would definitely recommend spending an afternoon here. Even if you don’t buy anything it’s so much fun.
