Neon Retro Arcade
It was a retro date night adventure!
Drew and I were walking down the street during a previous date night adventure in Old Town Pasadena looking for frozen yogurt to curb our sugar craving. While we searched for our treat, we walked by this place called Neon Retro Arcade. It piqued our curiosity, so we put our faces up against the glass window to look inside. Our eyes lit up when we realized it was an arcade and our childhood memories flooded our brains.
The door sign read:
Admissions
$10 per hour
$25 all-day
Unlimited plays.
We looked at each other and without saying a word, we knew that Neon Retro Arcade was going to be our next date night adventure.
We had to wait two weeks before returning to Old Town Pasadena, but the wait was definitely worth it. Walking into Neon Retro Arcade was like traveling back in time to the 80’s and 90’s. It was so colorful, and the variety of games was insane. We played Pac-Man, Mortal Combat, Donkey Kong, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, just to name a few.
Neon Retro Arcade even had a variety of old-school candy for sale in the front. Drew got a packet of Sour Patch Kids that we both indulged in. Even the music playing over the intercom was from the 80’s and 90’s. At one point, the song by Gloria Estefan, “Conga,” came on and just like the lyrics say;
“Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga
I know you can’t control yourself any longer”
I couldn’t control myself any longer and started dancing to the rhythm of the beat. (Click on the lyrics above so you hear a preview of the contagious song.) I don’t know about you, but I loved that song back in the day and I still do! Date Night at Neon Retro Arcade couldn’t have gone any better. If you’re a gamer and even if you’re not I would definitely recommend this place as a fun, low-key date.
And in the spirit of feeling younger, we decided to jump a fence while on our way to our car and snap some pictures. No worries, we weren’t trespassing.
Date Night is always an adventure with him.
Have a great one, loves!
